first anniversary

It was one year ago today that my Mom passed away. Here is a picture of my parents in happier days. It was obviously taken on New Year's Eve, but I'm not exactly sure when. Sometime before Mom's accident, so must be early to mid 70's.

my Mom

My sister was at my Dad's house today and found this picture of my Mom. I like it alot. It shows the true spirit of the woman she was....outdoors, smiling and making music. I don't know how old she was here, but probably still a teenager because it looks like she was on "the farm".

obituary

BOYD, Loreen Victoria (nee Lesopoy) It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to a woman who was loved and admired by many. Loreen was born October 29, 1927 in The Pas, Manitoba and passed away peacefully on February 3, 2007 at Saanich Peninsula Hospital in Victoria, B.C. She was a country girl at heart and loved to be outside. She was an avid horsewoman, artist, musician, gardener and rockhound. As a young woman she moved to Victoria where she met Gordon, a handsome young sailor, and they were wed in February of 1950. They had 4 children, Gordon, Jo-Ann (m.Art), and twins Dennis and Denise (m.Lance). One of the highlights of her life was when her first grandchild was born in 1971, Jodie Ann (m.Jody). They played together endlessly. Then more grandchildren came and filled her with even more joy, Scott, Irene (m.Alex), Josie and Cody. In 2005 her first great-grandson Chase was born. A second, Brodie, is on his way, but didn't arrive in time to meet his great-granny. Loreen suffered an accident In 1978 which left her quadrapalegic. Her amazing will to live in spite of those difficult circumstances has set a courageous example for us all. We remember and honour a very special woman who graced our lives. We will miss her more than words can say. One person that deserves special mention is her sister-in-Iaw, Norine, a steadfast friend who was uniquely dear in Loreen's heart, and a sincere thank you to all the nurses and staff that helped care for her. Loreen is also survived by sisters Ruby and Bernice, brother Bill, many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by parents William and Lillian and sister Irene. Services will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 10:00 am. 338328
